It may sound a bit crazy: There isn’t any snow in sight, neither is a mountain that would be tall enough, though we are walking through the little town of Pobenhausen with our snowboards.
But here is where those special level up snowboards come to life. After a long search for an individual snowboard, we decided to create our own ones.
All our products are designed and built here in our manufactory, from the very idea until it is ready for production. We put all our passion into each one of them and lots and lots of test riding.
To get the best results and true functionality, you need highest-quality materials and the application of elaborate assembly methods. This starts with the selection of the wood for the board core and goes on until choosing the best fitting LEDs and board designs. We count on conscientious and accurate handwork. All four lengths have very similar handling characteristics, even if shorter boards are principally more agile. However, by a short nose and tail they all have a long effective edge side, which guarantees excellent grip even with a tight radius and on hard ski-runs. The positions of the bindings are slightly set back to make the nose longer and softer and to provide sufficient lift in powder snow. This makes it a perfect all-round board.
Can snowboards be manufactured cheaper by using plastics cores? For sure. Will it reach the same level of quality like a hand-selected wooden core? Probably not. This is reason enough for us to only consider one kind of material for the filet piece of our boards: wood. This nature product alone makes each of our products absolutely unique. The wood of the poplar stem is very flexible and at the same time one of the most lightweight ones. These properties guarantee playful riding and incomparable agility. Vibrations are damped by the poplar wood while riding. These outstanding resonance properties are also the reason why this kind of wood is used for building bodies of string instruments and guitars.
First and foremost stands the illumination of our boards. As early as in the first step of production, LEDs are integrated into the very core of the board. All further layers, which build up the board later on, are enveloping this core and therefore protect the LEDs from moisture and mechanical stress. One might say we don’t build the illumination into our snowboards, but rather the board around the lights. When switched off, you won’t notice any difference to other boards: nothing is sticking around or glued onto it. Our boards are designed and produced from first to last for this purpose.
300 high performance SMD-LEDs are making your board glow in the dark. They are distributed evenly around the edges inside the wooden core. Even in the bent parts of the tip and tail the line of lights is going around to form a closed circle and provide maximum illumination. The white snow reflects the light and creates a fantastic optical impression, like the board would float in mid-air. Going for a night ride, the effect is even more impressive. Everyone can see the bright shine coming down the slopes even from the distance. It is possible that 1-2% of the LEDs become defective - this is due to the margin of error of the SMD-LED manufacturer.
Unlike our competitors, we rely on understatement. In the design, we focus on clean lines. Lighting should, just like the rest of the board, be our upper-class aspiration. That's why we do not simply drill holes into finished snowboards to sink LEDs there, but integrate them directly into the core. And just sticking colored LEDs onto the top does not fit our style. With our board you are absolutely unique on the slopes.
We created a special power supply for our snowboards. The bespoke Alcantara bag includes an 11.1V lithium-polymer battery (also known as LiPo or Lipoly). The battery is mainly used in the construction of RC models, and combines minimum weight with sufficient storage capacity to provide 5 hours of constant power while you are riding. To charge, we provide you with a special charger. For safety reasons there is a replaceable 2 amp glass thermal fuse inside the bag, so you do not have to worry about short circuits. The battery pack is secured with a velcro drawstring under the ski pants. Due to the weight you won’t notice anything.
With a self-developed power connector the current line is waterproof from the beginning to the end. It is fixed on the board with two additional binding inserts. Again, our philosophy here is ‘everything individually’. The power connector was specially designed by us and manufactured in a 3D printing process. This way we can also implement special details like our logo on the top side. To prevent water causing a short circuit, we use so-called Super Seal plugs, used in motor sport, for the connection of the battery pack and power connector. Even snow deposits cannot harm the connectors, since the poles are independently waterproof insulated. The connection can be established and released quickly – even with gloves.
